Specific academic interests: semantic web, linked data, machine learning, data mining, evolutionary computing, bioinformatics, graph theory, computational humanities, web science.

Interests outside of computer science: philosophy, psychology, religion & spirituality (particularly Christianity and Buddhism), the liberal arts, dilated cardiomyopathy, vegetarianism and esoterica.

I've worked in software and web development roles in industry, I've written a few publicly available technical online articles and I'm currently in the process of writing a book about a particular programming system.

Favoured Programming Languages: Ruby, Java, Haskell and Prolog.
Other Familiar Languages: PHP, C, C++, JavaScript, CLIPS and Objective-C (and some others).
Data Structure Languages: RDF, OWL, XML, RDBMS.
Data Query Languages: SQL, SPARQL.
Favoured Operating Systems: Linux (pref Ubuntu) and Mac OS X.
