About

I studied Sociology at the University of York and then Research Methods at Goldsmiths College before completing a PhD at Cardiff University in 2007. Following this I was an ESRC postdoctoral fellow in the Cardiff School of Social Sciences, lectured Sociology and Research Methods at the University of Wales and was a research fellow at the University of Leeds.

In my current post I am working on the Governance of Educational Trajectories in Europe (GOETE) project with Prof. Roger Dale and Prof. Susan Robertson (see http://www.goete.eu/). In the Graduate School of Education I am part of the Globalisation, Education and Societies research centre.

My other ongoing projects focus on children’s relationship cultures during the primary/secondary transfer, young children’s relationships in the nursery, and media for children and young people.

I co-convene the BSA Education Study Group with Dr. Richard Waller at Bristol UWE. We edit a sociology of education blog called SocofEd, which can be accessed here: http://socofed.com

I am also Shadow Membership Services Director on the BSA Council.
