I'm a palaeobiologist and obtained my DPhil in March 2008 at Oxford University. My primary area of research is the Ediacaran to Cambrian transition and the emergence of the animal phyla and the construction of the first animal ecosystems. In particular I'm interested in developing methodologies to understand enigmatic fossil phylogenies with applicability to a broad range of palaeobiological problems. I'm currently also involved in conservation projects for fossil sites across the UK and Canada including applying a variety of high resolution techniques to fossils, including laser scanning.
I'm also very interested in evolutionary theory and am increasingly working on more theoretical problems, such as the construction and collapse of ecosystems and the rise of the predator-prey system.
