About
I studied zoology at the University of Durham followed by a research masters at the University of Bristol. The topic of my research masters was "The effects of anthropogenic noise on fish behaviour" and included acoustic analysis that led to improved playback methodologies. I received a commendation of excellence from the faculty of science for this work.
From 2010-2011 I spent a year working as a research assistant in French Polynesia (acoustically mapping habitat and running controlled experiments on the effects of boat noise on adult and larval reef fish), New Zealand (building and testing a hydrophone array for measuring underwater particle motion), Perth (creating an otolith biochronology) and the Kimberley in Australia (as lead scientist on a humpback whale monitoring project).
I have since returned to the University of Bristol where I have just started my PhD on "The effects of anthropogenic noise on the development and behaviour of fish", very excited about where this will lead!
